Halloween make up is so much fun I had no idea! This week I got to dress up again for Halloween when I was invited by NYX Cosmetics to attend the St Kilda Spooktober festival. There were some seriously impressive halloween make up looks to be seen by the REAL make up artists (not me). For anyone looking for halloween inspiration, you’ll be sure to find it here.
Halloween make up, haunted houses and cocktails!
What a night! NYX was kind enough to invite a whole bunch of Melbourne beauty gals out for a night at St Kilda’s Spooktober festival. We all met at the NYX tent where we pretty much just stood around envying everyones make up skills and creativity. I obviously took photos of everyone because I’m a creep like that, plus I like to bank these photos to use as inspiration for my next dress up party. Obviously.
There is a bit of a story behind my zombie bride halloween make up and costume…
If you read my last weeks halloween party post, you’d know I dressed up as a gothic sugar skull – this time I wanted to try something different. Nothing screams Halloween quite like a zombie dress up! Yes, I am a zombie bride but no this isn’t a ploy to name drop ‘Married At First Sight’ again. #exceptitotallyjustdid
So, I thought I had this zombie bride thing all planned out. I did a practice of my make up the night before to make sure I wasn’t going to fail completely, thankfully I was feeling confident by the end of it. Where I really messed up though, was thinking I’d be able to easily put my zombie contacts in as I’m running out the door. My name is Erin ‘Unprepared’ Bateman, so of course things didn’t really go my way in the contact lense department.
One thing I didn’t know about contacts, is when you’re a rookie like me, probably best to try putting them in BEFORE doing a full face of make up. Why you ask? Well, when your eyes are violent running tsunamis of tears, the zombie halloween make up you just spent an hour doing is now completely ruined. I’m talking completely-unsavable-start-again-ruined. It also didn’t help to have a fresh set of Russian volume lashes trying to venus fly trap my finger every time I get close.
So long story short, I managed to get one contact in, yes thats right, just one. For the rest of the night I either wore my hair emo-style over my contactless eye.. OR I told people I was a ‘half turned’ zombie. #problemsolved
Would it really be halloween without a haunted house?! Nope!
This haunted house was set up in St Kilda town hall – as if that wasn’t spooky enough! I must applaud the organisers of Spooktober because this was by far the most terrifying experience of my life. Imagine 20+ payed actors dressed up as haunted clowns, ghost children, zombies etc etc, now imagine them chasing you through a maze dark corridors and spooky sets. We literally were chased by a guy with a meat cleaver through a fake kitchen covered in blood! Call me a baby, but I was terrified!
Over all, it was such a fun night of playing carnival games, talking make up and taking photos! Thanks for having me NYX Cosmetics and thanks for the amazing goodie bag!
